Where are Ron and Ellen?

Travel Plans: June through September 2002


On 30 May we fly to Munich, where we will stay with our friend Uta. Then on 1 June we (and our bikes) take the night train from Munich to Padborg, Denmark, just across the German border from Flensburg. We will spend almost a month biking in Denmark. Our route is approximately Padborg, Sonderborg, Faborg, Aero, Langeland, Odense, Soro, Roskilde, and Copenhagen. From Copenhagen we return by train to Munich, arriving back in Munich on 28 June.

On Monday 1 July, we go by train to Prague, for the meeting Library and Information Services in Astronomy IV, 2-5 July. On Sunday 7 July, Ellen returns to Munich by train, and then flys home on Tuesday 9 July.

When Ellen leaves Prague, Ron will head east through the Slovak Republic and into the Ukraine for some extended travel. He will probably spend some time in Romania on his way back towards Munich at the end of the trip, visiting with friends he has made on previous trips there.

Ron flys home from Munich on 30 September.

We'll be sending travel accounts by email from Munich, Denmark, and Prague. After Ellen returns, she will post those accounts to the Web page (with pictures, of course!), and will continue to post Ron's travel tales as they arrive.
