Our long spell of very hot and dry weather finally ended with 8.5" rain over the several days between 26-30 September, so it was finally possible to burn all the debris from both DEstruction and CONstruction that had been pushed into a big hole in the field in back of our house. The construction crew notified the Sheriff so he would know where the smoke was coming from. The sprinkler on top of the dirt pile is pumping water from the creek to keep the surrounding area wet.
The burn pit.
The siding is nearly complete, and the first paint shows on the porch.
Painting the siding next to the new front door -- with a view straight through the new front window, through the new back window, and into the garden/pond area!
Siding completed, more paint going on.
The ditch for the retaining wall. To the left of the wall will be gravel and drainage pipe, to the right of the wall in the garden area will be the pond. The big black thing is the skimmer for the pond (the pump goes inside it). When the pond is dug, the skimmer will be buried in the corner close to the existing house at one edge of the pond.
Retaining wall.
Meanwhile, the electrician is at work inside.
