New electric meter box, on the outside of house (but it will be under the roof of the open porch). This replaces the current meter box, once on the outside wall of the house but now on the inside wall of the addition.
We're replacing the current overhead power line from the pole to the house with an underground line. Here is the ditch, seen from the house, running to the power pole, waiting for the power company to come and lay the cable. Collateral damage: hostas (easily transplanted from other areas where they should be thinned), half the clump of forsythia, and possibly the holly bush in the right foreground.
Ditch for underground power line, looking from pole towards house.
The power company has now laid the cable, covered it with a little dirt (guys using shovels), and laid the ditch tape warning of a power line below. Now the ditch is ready to be filled in again with the blade.
Porch floor, south side of addition. The porch wraps around two sides of the addition, open but with a roof.
Porch floor, west side (front) of addition.
